The Group
CV BOYS band Press

Battle of the Bands
Thursday, April 13, 2006 - CVMusicWorld.com

CV-Boys Band
 CV-Boys Band

On Friday May 12th, CV-Boys Band will compete in the Emergenza Music Festival’s battle of the bands, the European and North American Live Festival for Up and coming Bands, to take place at the Paradise Lounge in Boston.

The band went through preliminary rounds in February (at the Middle East Club) and March, battling against several Rock & Roll bands before finally moving to this legendary rock club for the Regional Semifinals.

Founded in 1999, this Boston-based nine-piece band released “Un So Korasaun,” (November 2005) an album now available in record stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Sam Goody, Newbury Comics, Virgin Megastore etc…

Born fifteen years ago in Europe from a group of passionate musicians in need of expression, Emergenza has become one of the most prominent musical contests for up and coming bands as far as international dimensions and coordination are concerned. This festival has already organized over 5000 shows and attracted more than 4000 bands from around the world.

Un So Korasaun
Band: CV BOYS band
Genre: World

Beautiful voice
Beautiful voice with lovely tone, I've no idea what the lyrics are but that isn't completely relevant as the sound is compelling enough without knowing the words. The overall feel and mood of the track are very pleasing and work well. The electronic elements blend in well with the exotic rhythms and don't seem particularly out of place although on occasion lead keyboard seems slightly high in the mix but that may be a personal; preference of mine to have them a little lower. A really good track, enjoyed it.

Great Flavour
An excellent mid temp dance beat should make this tune a popular club hit not only in its country of origin but globally as well.

The female voice is perfectly suited to the track...beautiful with a hint of mystery, accented by tasetful keyboard work...truly well done.

As can be expected from a dance number, there is a fair bit of repetition in the song structure, however this is not a bad thing with respect to this tune as there is enough variation to keep the listener engaged. Particularily surprising were the backing vocals that enter mid way through the song...unexpectedly adding to the overall subdued flavour of the track.

I dont understand what's being said, but the track feels like almost like a lament set to a groovin' dance beat! I probably off the mark but, that the feeling I get!

Very engaging, danceable track
Sounds like old school hip hop at first then turns into an eastern european or perhaps even an Indian flavored song. This beat has been done so many times and it always is a winner. It always has that plodding yet danceable feel to it that no one seems to dislike. Your singing is great and I love your voice. I'm not sure what language this is and I certainly don't speak it so I can't comment on the lyrics. The keyboard break around 2:08 is so cool. I love the sounds you're using for the keyboard solo and the fact that it's sparse and doesn't try to do too much is its greatest strength. This song is very listenable and the background vocals are a very nice touch. My favorite aspect of the song though is the lead vocals which are delicate and strong at the same time.

Top of the pops in some distant, exotic land.
Synth and percussion begin this piece, with a very symphonic sort of sound which yields to sort of a exotic dance. Female vocals then sing in a smoky, exotic tounge.

The vocals and keyboards sound very good, very professional, and the overall sound is pleasant and compelling. This has the feel of a song that would be a pop hit in some distant land.

Poppy, pleasing and well presented, but not a song that takes any real chances. All in all a worthwhile effort.

My review
Even though I do like the melodies I am not so fond of the sounds used by the keyboard. The female voice at the other hand I do like. I can’t say anything about the lyrics because it’s in a language I do not know.
Still I like the mood of this song.

- BranRuz from Gent, Ovl, Belgium on 30 Dec 2005

Try to add some live instruments!
First of all, you've got a great opening. Interesting. Then, the female vocals sould really good.

Can't coment on the lyrics because I don't understand Portuguese.

Overall this is an excellent track. You've got to work a bit on the production, however, to untap all it's potential.

Adding some live instruments (such as live drums) to the mix would greatly enhance this song.

My name is
This sounds like an eminem/50 cent backing track so far......oh it's a world song.Way to machine based for my taste.(that rhymed by the way)The voice is great but the music rally puts me off this

- discoduhb from X, United Kingdom on 22 Dec 2005

Oh, I loved it
I wouldn't change a thing! The grove with bass and percussion and instruments (Keyboards) is heavenly. The vocal is the cream. I don't know what the song is about, but I know what I feel, if its up, I'm hot, if it's sad (like she's leaving) I'm sad. Same intense feeling. The beginning strings and string bridge are just right. This makes me wonder why I'm not listening to more world music.

- JTView from Oakhurst, California on 22 Dec 2005

Astoundingly good sounds !!!
sexy from the first chord......nice keyboard work and in great taste ---- beat is sexy and is supported well bt the bass ----very much in sync between the bass and drums -----vocalist has a great voice for this piece -the keyboard has nice sound effects behind the vocalist...and also during the keyboard breaks.....this two chord piect goes a long way.....very seldom does a two chord piece hold one's attention as this one does....an exotic mood is generated from this piece....great one to display a pair of dancers in front of a crowd forming a circle around the dancers....lyrics are intersting as well ------great arrangement - great work.

- frschneider from Unspecified on 17 Dec 2005

Nice but done already...
I like the sond of everything but... well you decide if this is good or bad. You sound like a band that could be on an international latino/brazilian station, so that could be good. However, there are a lot of similar souding bands. i do like the electronic touches and the beats. Vocalist sounds good but, again, I have heard a lot of similar artists and songs. Good luck!

- GILBENTO from Oakhurst, New Jersey on 16 Dec 2005

Easy listening
Quite a simple song that I hear now, with a clear and pure female lead voice. While songwriting is very conventional, there is, at first look, a certain exotic flair to this song that I like somehow.

Production is very good, crisp sound and clever usage of stereo width for the different synth parts.

It's a pity that the song turns out to be pretty repetetive, though. It doesn't stand out for something special, but if you are after some easy listening without a lot of depth, this one might be for you...

- daRem from Vienna, Austria on 15 Dec 2005

Good beat
I actually like the groove more than the string intro.. It would have been cool to have the song just come right in with the groove. The vocalist sounds as if she's holding back a little. She has a very clear tone will probably improve as she continues singing. I can't comment on the lyrics, since I don't understand what is being sung, but to sum it up: This song has a good groove that would be improved with an introduction that goes right to the point.

- johnthomas from San Antonio, Texas on 15 Dec 2005

Great feel.
Not digging the sharp synthesized strings (I assume they're synthesized because of the inordinately disjointed pitch jumps and the sharpness of the sound). I am digging the vocals and the whole feel of this entire song. Makes me want to dance. Great beat and bass. The keyboard interlude a little after 2:10 is a nice break. This could use a bridge or something however; just something to change up the chord structure. I also really like the chorus of voices, that's a real nice touch. My only real complaint are the synthesized strings and the length of the song considering the lack of any real changes. Great job and good luck.
